English Language Challenges

My experience learning English in this university has been good. I can’t say a lot about it because I only took two courses, but I can definitely say that it helped me to improve my pronunciation and to learn idioms that can help in any situation, for example, when you have to write blogs and make an idea. About blogs, I have to say that they are a good tool to practice writing, because it is an important part when we have to apply for some job or interview. We have to know how to write properly in English and we should be capable of writing about any theme, that’s why blogs are important; they are not boring essays and we can write in the way we like to express ourselves. English class is important for me because I can keep practicing the language. I know that it’s very common to forget how to pronounce or write or use some words when you don’t speak English frequently, so this class for me is a good way to practice (because it’s different from singing in English or watching series

Movies and Series I like

In this post I’m going to talk about movies or series that I like, so, I’m going to start with movies. In the list of my favorites there’s always a Wes Anderson movie. I think that my top 3 are ‘’The Grans Budapest Hotel’’, ‘’Moonrise Kingdom’’ and ‘’ Fantastic Mr. Fox’’. They are my favorites because I really love the aesthetics of this director and the characters are really special and particular on their own way. Another movie that I love is ‘’Leon: The professional’’. The story of this movie always gets my heart melted.   And talking about series, I have to say that my taste is variated. A series that I will forever and always love is ‘’31 minutos’’ because it transports me to my childhood and I know all the lyrics by heart. I love it because is a perfect reflection of the Chilean TV, but also a good way to learn about our environment and our natural resources, endemic fauna, etc. It was such a perfect show for kids! I also like other series like ‘’Breaking B

Postgraduate studies.

I have to say that I haven’t thought about this a lot, because, first, I want to finish my career, because it has been a big effort for me and I’d like to think about finishing this before thinking about studying something else. However, it’s very common to study or specialize yourself on something that you liked the most or on something that you think can make a difference to the world. In this case I’d like to specialize myself on things like urban arts, social politics or sustainability, because I think that these things make some difference on people’s environment. I hope to win some kind of scholarship or grant to make this possible, because we all know that studying isn’t cheap, even more if you study in Chile. Therefore, I’d like to do these studies abroad. One of my options is the University of Sao Paulo, in Brasil, because it is one of the best universities of the continent and the education there is free. I’d like to study there and not in an European/ North American

Changes to my study programme

Studying Architecture in the University of Chile sound like something great and promising; you have a brilliant future in front of you because you’re studying a profitable career in one of the best Universities of Chile. However, the truth is that is not as good as it seems. It’s known that this educational institution has a lot of problems, and they can be seen clearly in our faculty. I can start saying that the length of the career is much larger than in other universities (that are better qualified). We spend years and years learning and working in the same things, sometimes with not noticeable progress, and then, all of this is shown when you enter to the professional field. I think this university should focus more on their students and less on the ‘’prestige’’ they’re trying to show to the world. Besides, the conditions in where we’re working and studying are not the best. The classrooms don’t have the required equipment for all the students. We don’t have places to work o

Personal Opinions

What is your opinion about the Chilean traditions? I have to say that I am a folklore lover, so I like everything related to Chilean traditions. When I say this, people look scared because they think that I’m a kind of patriotic or something like that, and they’re completely wrong, because the things I like about folklore are the things that were there before the arrival of the Spanish. I like our flora and fauna, I like our typical dances, like La Diablada or El trote chilote, and I specifically like our typical food.   I don’t like the traditions that were brought from Europe, like the rodeo, but I accept that the majority of our traditions are a combination of cultures. What is your opinion about legalizing abortion in all cases? This topic for me is very important, because is something that have gained a lot of controversy. In my case, I’ve been interested in this for six years, when in first grade of secondary I had to write an essay about abortion, so I started reading,
