Postgraduate studies.


I have to say that I haven’t thought about this a lot, because, first, I want to finish my career, because it has been a big effort for me and I’d like to think about finishing this before thinking about studying something else.
However, it’s very common to study or specialize yourself on something that you liked the most or on something that you think can make a difference to the world. In this case I’d like to specialize myself on things like urban arts, social politics or sustainability, because I think that these things make some difference on people’s environment.
I hope to win some kind of scholarship or grant to make this possible, because we all know that studying isn’t cheap, even more if you study in Chile.
Therefore, I’d like to do these studies abroad. One of my options is the University of Sao Paulo, in Brasil, because it is one of the best universities of the continent and the education there is free. I’d like to study there and not in an European/ North American university because I strongly believe that you have to study in the place you want to make a change, in that way, you’ll know about your environment and social problems, and it won’t be something that you studied and then came here to practice it.

Photography

I have to say I don’t know a lot about photography. I like to take pictures of things that call my attention, for example, the sunset or the sunrise between the buildings, or the colors of the city. I think I like these kinds of pictures because of the ‘’color palette’’, it makes me calm. Another thing I enjoy taking pictures is street art. I luckily study near many neighborhoods that are full of paintings and different kinds of street art, so it’s really cool for me to go for a walk in these places and take pictures of what I see. I also enjoy taking pictures of animals, more specifically dogs, and even more specifically street dogs. I think that sometimes pictures can reflect what they want to tell us with their sight. It can be love, or hunger, or many other things, but I think that the way dogs look at us is something really nice to capture with a camera. It also happens with cats, but they are mainly posing for the camera, they know that they are some kind of models....

my future job

As an architecture student, I think that my future job is going to relate with architecture. I’d love to have projects for my own but I admit that I also like to work on groups, I think that is a good way to learn more and make an amazing project. I really like the artsy part of architecture; it fills my heart, so I’d love to work on something very related to it. Maybe an art museum, or designing galleries, or even be part of an urban art project, because I really love urban art. I like graffiti, murals, and public spaces destined to people’s enjoyment. I would love to see the concrete jungle full of colors. I’d really like to work on something like this, on something that returns the public space to people that uses it every day. For me, our city has to be more colorful and I want to be part of that change. I don’t expect earning a lot of money or to become rich with this job but I think it is more important for me to be happy with what I do than making myself rich, because, in ...

Changes to my study programme

Studying Architecture in the University of Chile sound like something great and promising; you have a brilliant future in front of you because you’re studying a profitable career in one of the best Universities of Chile. However, the truth is that is not as good as it seems. It’s known that this educational institution has a lot of problems, and they can be seen clearly in our faculty. I can start saying that the length of the career is much larger than in other universities (that are better qualified). We spend years and years learning and working in the same things, sometimes with not noticeable progress, and then, all of this is shown when you enter to the professional field. I think this university should focus more on their students and less on the ‘’prestige’’ they’re trying to show to the world. Besides, the conditions in where we’re working and studying are not the best. The classrooms don’t have the required equipment for all the students. We don’t have places to work o...
